Sales Advisor
Demonstrates food and other products

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Prepare and demonstrate vendor products, providing club store member’s samples of product for the purpose of promoting sales. Displays product, explains features and answers member questions. Throughout work shift, continuously engage in talking to members about the vendor product.

REQUIREMENTS:

Successful completion of a Criminal Background check, Pre-employment Drug Screen, and Food Safety Certification that meet company standards are conditions of employment for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Positively engages members to promote and increase sales of product
  • Maintains a friendly positive image, attitude and appearance
  • Maintains a professional, clean, healthy and safe work environment
  • Prepares vendor products according to instructions to the Demonstration Product Information Sheet (DPIS). Serves and demonstrates products enthusiastically, providing helpful hints and uses of product, using the SITGA (Smile, Invite, Talk, Give, Ask) format
  • Set up and organize cart/table for event
  • Adhere to all Food Safety, Handling and Sanitation training and guidelines
  • Remain open and receptive to various training efforts including product preparation, event presentation, Club Store rules, sales training and emphasis
  • Assists other sales advisors as required in a team-oriented environment
  • Provides daily, accurate and timely reporting of time worked, sales results and meaningful member comments
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, washing and drying dishes
  • Perform Breaker function - relieves Sales Advisor personnel for general breaks (15 minutes) and lunch (1/2 hour intervals when assigned)
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to stand the duration of the shift and perform routine tasks with minimal supervision
  • Requires bending, walking, stooping, reaching, kneeling, twisting, grasping, pushing and pulling
  • Part-time schedule. Must be able to work flexible hours to include work availability for weekends
  • Excellent communication skills and superb member care

Closing Coordinator
Performs Sales Advisor duties and may close location in early evenings

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, responsible for providing key support to the Event Manager, Senior Shift Supervisor and Shift Supervisor, ensuring effective day-to-day operation by overseeing events.

REQUIREMENTS:

Successful completion of a Criminal Background check, Pre-employment Drug Screen, and Food Safety Certification that meet company standards are conditions of employment for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains professional, clean, healthy and safe working environment
  • Completes accident reports, when necessary
  • Verify accurate event hours are recorded
  • Verify all Sales Advisors sign out at the end of the shift(s)
  • Make sure all equipment is clean and properly stored at the end of the day
  • Responsible for accurate payroll input
  • Oversee the purchases, storage, preparation and serving of products and supplies
  • Perform Breaker function - relieves Sales Advisor personnel for general breaks (15 minutes) and lunch (1/2 hour intervals when assigned)
  • Other duties as assigned

When functioning as a Sales Advisor performing an event:

  • Serves and demonstrates products enthusiastically, providing helpful hints and uses of product

Shift Supervisor
Performs Sales Advisor duties & assists Event Manager with mgmt duties

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, responsible for providing key support to the Event Manager and Senior Shift Supervisor ensuring effective day-to-day operation by overseeing events.

REQUIREMENTS:

Successful completion of a Criminal Background check, Pre-employment Drug Screen, and Food Safety Certification that meet company standards are conditions of employment for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

When functioning as the Shift Supervisor you may be responsible to:

  • Provide support by overseeing CDS events in Event Manager's and/or Senior Shift Supervisor's absence, including directing all activities engaged in successful demonstration of vendor products. Able to open or close the daily operations at the warehouse.
  • Assist the Event Manager and/or Senior Shift Supervisor in interviewing and training of new Sales Advisors.
  • Coach Sales Advisors in proper event procedures and sales goal program to ensure maximum results of each demo performed.
  • Prepare and submit DDR/payroll paperwork ensuring utmost accuracy and in compliance with all wage & hour/payroll laws, rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit daily, accurate and timely daily event reports, as required.
  • Assist in preparation of work schedules and daily activities of Sales Advisors.
  • Purchase products for events when requested and oversee proper storage, preparation, and servicing of such products and supplies.
  • Ensure daily maintenance and upkeep of event carts, skillets, and other CDS appliances/equipment in order to prolong life and ensure safe operation.
  • Conduct periodic inventory of equipment and supplies including end cap audit.
  • Knowledgeable of company work injury procedures and ability to direct injured/ill employees to the designated clinic; complete Report of Injury and any other accident reporting paperwork, then communicate any incidents to Corporate Risk Management team as stipulated in the company Safety Program on Event Manager's days off or in the absence of the Senior Shift Supervisor.
  • May participate in Grand Openings at other locations and travel as requested by Field Management
  • Ensure on-going adherence to and compliance with all company polices, procedures, rules, and regulations for self and all Sales Advisors in their charge. This includes not only operational procedures, but all safe food handling/sanitation requirements, health dept regulations, and any federal or state safety/OSHA laws.
  • Perform Breaker function - relieves Sales Advisor personnel for general breaks (15 minutes) and lunch (1/2 hour intervals when assigned).
  • Assists the Event Manager and/or Senior Shift Supervisor with assigned tasks/projects as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Senior Shift Supervisor
Performs Sales Advisor duties; operates location on the Event Manager's days off

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, responsible for providing key support to the Event Manager ensuring effective day-to-day operation by overseeing operational responsibilities in the warehouse location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Shift Supervisor must be available to work on Sundays and Mondays (or the two days each week designated as the Event Manager's regularly established days off) and/or in the absence of the Event Manager.

The Senior Shift Supervisor will be responsible to:

  • Open or close the daily operations at the warehouse; provide support by overseeing CDS events in Event Manager's absence and/or day's off, including directing all activities engaged in successful demonstration of vendor products.
  • Under the direct guidance of the Event Manager, will assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training of new Sales Advisors
  • Is familiar with and trained in the execution of the company's hiring process
  • Assist the Event Manager with preparing the weekly schedule
  • Coach Sales Advisors in proper event procedures and sales goal program to ensure maximum results (established company goals) of each event
  • Supervises and directs daily activities of Sales Advisors when Event Manager is absent.
  • Prepare and submit DDR/payroll paperwork ensuring utmost accuracy and in compliance with all wage & hour/payroll laws, rules and regulations
  • Prepare and submit daily, accurate and timely daily event reports, as required
  • Acts as a liaison and interacts with club store management, vendors' representatives, corporate staff, and Area Managers as required by Event
  • In the absence of Event Manager, conduct monthly Safety meetings, pre-shift "splinter" meetings, and attend Costco warehouse management monthly safety meetings
  • Purchase products for events when requested and oversee proper storage, preparation, and servicing of such products and supplies
  • Ensure daily maintenance and upkeep of event carts, skillets, and other CDS appliances/equipment in order to prolong life and ensure safe operation
  • Conduct periodic inventory of equipment and supplies including end cap audit
  • Knowledgeable of company work injury procedures and ability to direct injured/ill employees to the designated clinic; complete Report of Injury and any other accident reporting paperwork, then communicate any incidents to Corporate Risk Management team as stipulated in the company Safety Program on Event Manager's days off or when acting as the Event Manager
  • May participate in Grand Openings at other locations and travel as requested by Field Management
  • Ensure on-going adherence to and compliance with all company polices, procedures, rules, and regulations for self and all Sales Advisors in their charge. This includes not only operational procedures, but all safe food handling/sanitation requirements, health dept regulations, and any federal or state safety/OSHA laws
  • Provides proper and detailed documentation for any employee performance concerns in the absence of the Event Manager; and contacts Human Resources for advice and direction when applicable
  • Trains Sales Advisors in Safety and Health Program
  • Perform Breaker function - relieves Sales Advisor personnel for general breaks (15 minutes) and lunch (1/2 hour intervals when assigned)
  • Other duties as assigned

When performing an event:

  • Acts as a model Sales Advisor; ensuring samples are available at all times, serving, and demonstrating products enthusiastically, sharing information and tips for uses of product, and drives product sales
  • Perform all the regular duties as specified on the Sales Advisor job description
  • Continues to monitor Sales Advisors' performance and reports inconsistencies to Event Manager
  • Other duties as assigned
